Description
Makerspaces are a destination that is becoming the latest tool in community education. They provide space, equipment, and know-how – along with the freedom to try new things.
“The “Maker Movement” signifies emergence of a cultural model of a society where anyone can become a creative maker. As part of this movement, various kinds of “Makerspaces” provide physical and social infrastructures that help unleash people’s intrinsic abilities to make, create, and innovate.” – The Design Society
Just like two art studios or shops are unique, two makerspaces are unique from each other. They typically reflect the community they are in.
The Come and Make It! Makerspace has a strong emphasis on the arts, trades, STEM, and real life skills such as cooking and hand tools.

Research behind Makerspaces encourages students to self-direct. We encourage parents that want their children learning specific skills to be involved in helping students design their time and makerspace experience. Bring projects or ideas. Don’t have any? Our staff is there to help you.
